New Project to Support UAE Universities for Online Learning

Women in Online Class

This strategy will support all universities in the UAE willing to develop and offer high-quality education accredited online courses before 2020. Here is how this will work.

Innovation

This project is in line with the UAE’s National Strategy of promoting innovation in education and the National Strategy for the Higher Education 2030. The role of this strategy is to prepare the youth to deal with future challenges. It aims to build and attain the highest professional and scientific education standards to cater to the UAE’s future generations.

This innovation strategy also comes after the 2019 establishment by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of clear and practical standards and framework for approved online programs. This will allow you to identify a university in Dubai that offers high-quality online courses. This is how the Ministry of Education aims to support this process and encourage higher learning institutions to offer top-notch online degree programs.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs of Higher Education emphasized the importance of improving university education and moving forward at the national level. This is possible by adopting top-notch groundbreaking academic options like enriching online accredited programs from national universities.

The UAE University Consortium for Quality Online Learning

The launch of the UAE University Consortium for Quality Online Learning, in conjunction with the Abdullah Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, will work together to fulfill the Ministry of Education’s vision for higher education. That is to provide national academic experiences to go with the times and technology. This will positively impact education now and in the future; this is proof that in the last period, online learning programs were just a test for all national universities. The tests checked whether higher learning institutions were prepared to handle this crisis by offering online classes through smart platforms.

User-Experience

The Ministry of Education is working together with its partners and stakeholders to provide online degree programs with the best user experience. It is also striving towards providing innovative educational practices offered with the highest level of competency in this field; this will enable the higher education sector to reach specific goals that will reflect high-quality in this sector. The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education is one of the leading bodies in the region in online learning. It has provided access and promoted online learning programs since 2016. It has provided many scholarships to Arab youth to finish their postgraduate studies and credentials at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Online (MITx) and Arizona State University; this happens through the Al Ghurair Open Learning Scholars Program (OLSP). It is also at the forefront of encouraging online and merging learning capacity-building applications at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and the American University in Cairo in Egypt.

The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education established a joint 3-way plan with the UAE Ministry of Education and state-of-the-art universities to deliver international standard accredited online programs in higher learning. It is their belief that this project will not only benefit the UAE but the entire region.

Although online learning has been around, it was not explored so much before the pandemic. Many universities across the world now use this method to conduct classes, and UAE has not been left behind. The UAE Ministry of Education has teamed with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education to provide high-quality online degree programs by 2022.
